Ballet Trauma Club Turns 2

Ballet Trauma Club is 2. 🥹

BTC started as a creative outlet when I was injured and burnt out.

They say it’s not always the best idea to heal where you got hurt, but that’s exactly what I did.

I took some of the most negative feelings I had experienced dancing professionally and turned them into slogans, memes, designs, and inside jokes. What started as a way to process my own experiences became conversation starters, shared stories, and eventually, a community.

Rather than hiding the trauma, I shared it with the world in hopes of making another dancer feel seen.

And somewhere along the way, Ballet Trauma Club became something much bigger than the thoughts in my head.

Growing Alongside Each Other

BTC grew alongside me through some of the lowest points of my healing journey.

As I found my way back to dancing, teaching, creating, and figuring out my own relationship with ballet again, BTC was finding its way too.

And you were there.

You wore my ridiculous ideas. You shared the memes with your ballet besties. You trusted me with your stories and reminded me that so many of the experiences we struggle with quietly aren’t ours alone.

Every interaction made this little club feel a little less like mine and a little more like ours.

While She Was 1

A lot happened while Ballet Trauma Club was one.

We created more ridiculous ballet things, welcomed another season of the BTC Creator Collective, and watched our creators bring their own voices and experiences to the club.

This summer, we also celebrated our first wholesale partnership with Bay Area Dancewear, where you can now find BTC.

But some of my favorite moments have been much smaller: seeing someone I’ve never met wearing BTC, reading a message from a dancer who felt seen by something I made, or watching two ballet besties tag each other under a meme that required absolutely no explanation.

Apparently, ballet trauma loves company. ❤️

Two Years Later

I started BTC hoping that sharing my experiences might make another dancer feel seen.

Two years later, you’ve made me feel seen too.

Thank you for welcoming the thoughts in my head manifested as memes and taglines, wearing my ridiculous ideas, sharing your stories, and giving Ballet Trauma Club a place in this community.

Happy 2nd birthday, BTC. 🎂

She’s only 2. Please manage your expectations.
