At Ballet Trauma Club, we’ve always promised to keep it real with you. So when something major happens—like the rollout of new tariffs that impact our supply chain—we’re not going to pretend it doesn’t matter. We’re here to walk you through what’s going on, what it means for BTC, and what comes next.
What’s Going On
As of April 5, 2025, the U.S. imposed a baseline 10% tariff on most imported goods. Some countries will see rates rise as high as 50% starting April 9. These changes are already affecting the cost of key materials—especially cotton, which plays a big role in the products we make.
While many of the blanks we use are distributed by U.S.-based companies and assembled here, the raw materials—including cotton and inks—often come from international suppliers. Like most small businesses, we rely on a global supply chain to keep pricing fair and our gear accessible. When that balance shifts, it impacts everything from restock timelines to final costs.
Behind the Seams: How BTC Products Are Made
We work with U.S.-based blank suppliers who distribute garments that are often assembled domestically, but whose materials—like cotton, polyester, and elastane blends—are globally sourced. That means everything from the fiber to the thread to the printing ink may come from different parts of the world, depending on availability, cost, and supplier networks.
Once we receive those blanks, all printing, finishing, and order fulfillment is done right here in the U.S., with small-batch care. Each drop is designed, processed, and packed by hand—often by just a few people (hi 👋). It’s a labor of love, and we work hard to keep the process intentional, ethical, and true to our values.
Our goal is to continue refining this system—whether that means sourcing more sustainable materials, choosing blanks with more transparent supply chains, or investing in tools that give us more control over the production process.
Here’s What It Means for You
- ✅ No immediate price changes — Everything currently in stock stays priced as is.
- ⚠️ Future restocks may see a 5–15% increase, depending on how material and freight costs evolve.
- 🚫 International shipping is on hold — Expanding worldwide was one of our 2025 goals, but rising tariffs have temporarily pushed that plan to the back burner.
- 💡 We’re staying flexible — We’re keeping a close eye on how things unfold and exploring ways to adapt, whether that means adjusting sourcing, delaying restocks, or finding creative ways to keep things affordable.
Every Kind of Support Matters
We know the economy isn’t easy right now, and that rising costs are affecting everyone’s standard of living. That’s why we deeply appreciate every form of support—from shopping with us, to simply subscribing to our mailing list, liking our posts, or sharing BTC with a friend.
These small actions make a huge difference in helping us keep this community going strong.
Why We’re Telling You This
For every venture I’ve taken on, I’ve led with transparency—and BTC is no exception. This brand was never just about apparel. It’s about creating something that resonates with dancers who’ve been through the wringer and still show up with grit, humor, and a little sweat.
We’re not worried—but we are paying attention. The goal is to keep moving forward, make smart decisions, and stay true to the spirit of this community. Sharing these updates with you is just one way we keep that trust alive.
